How to delete your account and data from the Spright app · RMexpertise Consultants (Pty) Ltd · Last updated: 17 September 2026
This page explains how to request deletion of your data from Spright, the wellbeing app published by RMexpertise Consultants (Pty) Ltd. You can delete everything yourself in the app, or ask us to do it for you.
Tip: you can also Export my data from the same screen before deleting, if you’d like a copy first. It includes your most recent 60 journal entries and up to 1,000 of your latest check-ins and emotion notes. It doesn’t include older journal entries or your Safe Space chats, and those can’t be recovered once your account is deleted.
If you can’t access the app, email spright@rmexpertise.co.za from your registered email address with the subject “Delete my data”. We will verify your request and delete your data within 30 days.
If you use Spright without an email, please delete your account inside the app. We have no way to confirm that an anonymous account is yours. Accounts without an email that aren’t used for 12 months are deleted automatically, with everything linked to them on our servers. If you started adding an email but didn’t confirm it, the account is kept until you delete it in the app.
To delete all your check-ins and journal entries, all your emotion notes, or all your Safe Space chats and keep your account, go to You › Privacy & security › What Spright keeps and tap Delete my check-ins and journal, Delete notes from my chats or Delete my Safe Space chats. You can’t yet remove single journal entries or mood check-ins inside the app. Email us (as above), tell us what you’d like deleted, and we’ll do it within 30 days. If you use Spright without an email, we can’t confirm the account is yours, so please delete in the app: all of one kind in You › What Spright keeps, or everything in You › Delete my account.
| Data | On deletion |
|---|---|
| Account (email) & the name you gave us | Permanently deleted |
| Mood check-ins & emotion notes | Permanently deleted |
| Journal entries & Safe Space messages (encrypted on your phone) | Permanently deleted |
| Reports about Ekō & usage records | Permanently deleted |
| Your choices about what Spright keeps | Permanently deleted |
| On your phone: reminders, Support Circle and Care Team contacts, date of birth, age, goals and settings | Stays on your phone until you delete the Spright app, apart from a date of birth that shows you’re 18 or older, which is removed when your account is deleted. On iPhone, your app PIN and the key that unlocks your journal stay in the phone’s keychain even after that. |
| On your phone: voice recordings, Ekō’s spoken replies and Spright’s copy of a data export | Spright deletes recordings and spoken replies on its own, usually straight after they’ve been used. If you leave a recording part-way, by going to another screen while Ekō is listening, or by leaving Spright or locking your phone while you’re recording, it’s deleted straight away and never sent. On iPhone, its copy of an export goes when the sharing screen closes. On Android, that copy stays until you make another export, or until Spright starts up again after being fully closed. Anything else left also goes the next time Spright starts up after being fully closed, or when you delete the app. If you’re leaving Spright, delete the app too. A copy of your export that you saved or sent somewhere else stays there. |
| What Anthropic, OpenAI and ElevenLabs received | Not affected by deleting your account. Anthropic normally deletes it within 30 days, OpenAI doesn’t keep recordings, and Spright deletes Ekō’s spoken replies from ElevenLabs straight after they’re made. See section 5.1 of our Privacy Policy |
| Crash reports (a code identifying your phone and technical details, which can occasionally include your account’s ID, but never what you write or say) | Kept by Sentry for up to 90 days, then deleted |
| Technical logs (such as IP address, device type and account ID) | Kept by our backend provider for 7 days, then deleted |
Retention: data is deleted from our active systems promptly, and purged from routine backups within 30 days. Reports about Ekō and usage records are also deleted automatically after 12 months. We keep only limited records where we are legally required to do so.
